Northampton terrestrial TV signals can be received from 4 main transmitters and one relay transmitter

Sandy Heath

This is the main transmitter that serves Northampton and is the first choice any aerial installer will test for. It is located near Bedford, and covers most of the East Anglia region

Sutton Coalfield

This is the second most used transmitter in Northampton. Its mainly used in some parts of Kingsthorpe and St James, when it is not possible to get a signal from sandy Heath due to building blocking the signal or the lye of the land

Oxford

This transmitter tends to be favored in some parts of Hunsbury, but can be received in many parts of the town. Again used when it is not possible to get a signal from sandy Heath due to building blocking the signal or the lye of the land

Waltham

Located in Leicestershire, this transmitter tends to be used in some villages mainly to the north of the town such as Brixworth and Maidwell

Dallington Relay Station

This is a sub transmitter near Kingsheath and serves parts of Semilong and St James. It gives a strong signal in these areas but quickly fades out. The drawback of this transmitter is that it only gives you about 30 channels, all the main ones such as BBC1, 2, 3, 4 BBC news, BBC childrens,  ITV 1 & 2 and Channels 4 & 5 etc. Other channels such as Dave are not broadcast from here
